Daggubati Rana new film 'Leader' telugu movie review:

Story:
A Chief Minister (Suman) injures severely in a bomb blast. On hospital bed, before breathing the last one, he asks his US returned son Arjun Prasad (Rana) to become the next chief minister of the state. Arjun learns that his father is very corrupted politician and his mother also asks him to become CM to cleanse the corrupted system. But his relative and ruling MLA Dhanraj has already mobilized all the MLAs to support his name for the CM chair. Dhanraj is very corrupted and is criminal. Arjun plays the same rules of game that the corrupted politicians do to win his aim – to become the CM. He wins the post and vows to mobilize Rs One Lakh Crores by raiding all the politicians and officers to provide good governance to the people. While he is on this mission, he naturally faces obstacles from his own party members, becomes victim of the political conspiracies, et al. How he goes against the system to he become real leader is all about the movie. Meanwhile, he also romances with a Radio Jackie and another media person.

Artist Performance:
'RaNa' The title role of Leader needs an actor of tremendous ability to do justice and RaNa Daggabati comes up with a fabulous performance. It was a brave decision by Sekhar Kammula to cast a newcomer like RaNa and he justifies it by doing excellent work. His voice is his best asset. He can speak Telugu in a highly authoritative manner. However, he looked little stiff and self-conscious in casual scenes and scenes involving heroines.
new girl Richa Gangopadhyay did a performance oriented role and she is good. Priya Anand is adequate. After a long time, we see Kota getting a meaty role and doing remarkable work. Suhasini is terrific in the movie with her controlled performance. Subba Raju is excellent as the villain. Harsha Vardhan gets another noteworthy role in this movie after ‘Anukokunda Oka Roju’. His performance is superb in the first scene. Tanikella Bharani is nice. Rao Ramesh and Ahuti Prasad are adequate. Udaya Bhanu did an item song in the movie.

Analysis:
First half of the movie is very good and sets the right platform for the story to take-off. The built-up scenes of hero becoming CM and very well written and directed. The love/betrayal episode and hero’s effort to save CM chair brings the tempo of the movie down in the second half. Though Maa Telugu Talliki song climax is good, it appears abrupt and is devoid of the politically charged excitement required for ending of a movie. The intent of Sekhar Kammula to make a movie for corruption free politics should be appreciated. He did very good job in the first half. However, the things aren’t the same in the second half. On a whole, Leader is a noble attempt to do an idealistic movie. We have to wait and see how it performs at box office.

Technical and Other departments:
Story - screenplay - direction: Story of the movie is good. It’s about a good son of a corrupt leader taking the mantle of CMship to put an end to corruption. Like any other political films, this movie too has many real life incidents (YSR’s death and power squabble that followed it, Ayesha murder case in Vijayawada, atrocities on Dalits in Chunduru, Lumbini Park blasts etc). Director Sekhar Kammula introduced the characters and story of the movie in an impressive way. He set the right platform for the movie to take off in the first half. However, the tempo is not maintained in the second half as the main point gets diluted in love episode and family feuds in the second half. The following scenes of the movie are really good
The hospital scene where all the prominent politicians vie for the top post as CM battles death in the ICUThe scene in a song where hero gives cloth to a lady with torn jacket.Kota’s subtle reactions in the scene of hero claiming CM seat.Hero meeting Gollapudi Maruthi Rao and humiliating his greediness and hunger for power. The scene of corrupting a section of MLAs (the background rendering of Idi Mana Bharatam is good)The beautiful scene of explaining the ‘rice free’ scheme.Maa Telugu Talliki song is excellentThe old man meeting CM about his dead daughter
The entire MLAs are shown as crooks and this movie shows the entire political fraternity as corrupt. The entire thread of Priya Anand didn’t work. The character of Ali (Harsha Vardhan) has a strong purpose to work earnestly for hero, but for Priya Anand there is no such objective. Hero trying to betray another heroine in the name of love is not convincingly narrated. There are some good scenes in the second half, but they weren’t properly established in order to make an impact on the audiences. The entire second half runs on the single agenda of hero trying to save one lac crore fund. The scenes of hero relinquishing CM post and going for elections and winning it are not narrated in an impact making way. All these scenes are inserted in a song as a montage. The main villain is spared in the movie despite him plotting attacks against the hero. The episode where Kota accepts that he is a caste fanatic in a TV interview defies logic (no successful political party admits caste bias openly).
Music of the movie is the biggest asset. Mickey J Meyer came up with impact making background score and rerecording. Equal mention should be given for DTX mixing in the vital scenes. Cinematography by Vijay C Kumar is neat. Dialogues penned by Sekhar Kammula are excellent and thought provoking (nijayatee gaa pani cheyyadamante tyagam cheyyatame, rice free scheme, oka china hope ivvara, ammaiki nyayam cheyyaleni CM vunte entha voodithe entha etc). Editing of the movie is very good in the first half, but should have been better in the second half. Production values by AVM are excellent.

Final View:
Sekhar Kammula’s Leader is not that everyone wants to have. It is superficial attempt and much of the scenes are very cinematic. It is good only in parts. On the whole, the film is disappointing one. But with some scence in the film can touches the every one hearts.

Nagarjuna Kedi Telugu Movie Review:

with huge expectations the film was released but nag dissapointed very munch with his new film kedi. nag should take care while choosing scrpits and new directors!

Story:

well coming in to story , Ramesh aka Rummy (Nagarjuna) is arrested by Police and the police officer (Shayaji Shinde) interrogates him on how could he dupe the cop in the past several times. Rummy starts telling his story: how he became a K.D after an incident in his childhood. As a teenage boy, he was fascinated with Cricket but his drunkard father didn’t allow him and soon he makes friendship with a local teenage girl Janaki. Their friendship grew into love but her parents oppose this romance. Forced by her parents, Janaki refuses to elope with Rummy and asks him to earn money first. Feeling cheated, Rummy is on the mission for earning by duping others, etc. Now, he is a big con man in Goa with the help of local don (Ankur). Rummy also meets a young Single mother Sandhya (Mamta) who agrees to act as his wife for a mission. Rest of the movie is how Rummy’s life changes after Sandhya’s arrival in his life.

Artist and Other performance:

Nagarjuna looks stylish in the movie. He also appears younger with his chic and trendy clothes. He tries hard to sustain the interest with his experience in most mundane scenes too. His mannerism – ‘sometimes rummy is good man’ - is likable.

Mamta Mohandas plays deglam role although she is crucial to the script. Newcomer Linda looks beautiful. Anushka in her brief appearance brings charm to the screen. Shayaji Shinde is okay. So is ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ fame Ankur. Harshavardhan is good as Nag’s aide and Brahmanandam provides some laughter here and there.
Technically, the film is too good. Especially cinematography by Sarvesh Murari attracts you instantly. His angles and framing has brought rich look the film. Also good D.I is another advantage. Sandeep Chowtha scores in providing background score than composing tunes. Although the film has several songs, only three songs (Mayagadura.., Mu..Mu Muddanta Cheda, and another melody in the beginning) stand out. Rich production values by producer D Shiva Prasad Reddy (as most part was shot in Goa and songs shot in Greece) are another advantage in the movie. New director and writer Kiran has shown spark in some dialogues but his lack of experience is clearly visible. Much of the story has no driving point to move forward, so he has filled it up with silly scenes.

Kedi Movie Analysis:

KD begins on a promising note with a good introduction scene and a flashback child episode but fails to sustain the momentum. By the time interval comes, the film misses its direction and premise. On paper, the concept of back-and-forth narration looks pretty interesting but the new director has just chosen right narrative device but not the content (story). It also completely drives on single focus with no entertainment value. Nagarjuna’s con activities bring smiles in the beginning after a point become monotonous. Nagarjuna’s presence and his stylish acting is the saving grace of the film. Hero rescuing a Britain girl’s sister has served purpose of filling the screen time, as it has no value to the story. Such scenes are aplenty in the movie. Flash back child episode and pre-climax confession of Mamta Mohandas are best part while director’s inability to handle the movie on the whole is big drawback.

Final View:

KeDi starts off promisingly but has not able to sustain it till the end. Nagarjuna’s stylish looks and technical values are the only saving grace. If you are a big diehard fan of nagarjuna, go and wacth it !

My Name Is Khan Hindi Movie Review:

By all controversy , finally srk film was released , He cant dissapointed in the film. Though almost delayed by a decade and dozen films, Karan Johar touches the now-traditional theme of the aftermath of 9/11 and the victimized Muslim with simplicity and sensitivity in My Name is Khan . Within the range that the global-issue offers, the film still doesn’t attempt to go out of the world in its treatment, resorting to the regular conflicts already exploited in the genre. But where Karan Johar succeeds is in making Shah Rukh Khan underplay his character like never before and mellow down the human drama with so much positivity that a film with a backdrop as intense as 9/11 ends up being feel-good. Just to give an instance of the optimism, when the naive autistic protagonist is given cold treatment in a torture cell, he offers to repair the air conditioner.

Story And Movie Analysis:
So you have Rizvan Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) suffering from what Dustin Hoffman experienced in Rainman – autism or more specifically Asperger Syndrome. He is intelligent enough to comprehend situations but too innocent to understand people. After the death of his mother in India, he shifts to US with his brother (Jimmy Sheirgill) and sister-in-law (Sonya Jehan).
Pyaar Impossible happens as Rizvan marries Mandira (Kajol), a divorcee with a kid. Post 9/11 attacks, Karan’s candyfloss treads on Hope and a Little Sugar track as Muslims are abused and attacked randomly in US. A tragedy alienates the couple as Rizvan sets on a journey that he believes would reunite him with Mandira.
My Name is Khan follows a storytelling pattern which is simple and comprehensible but at the same time remains one-dimensional for a major part until the reasoning behind Khan's impractical journey is unveiled, late in the second half. Post that as the film focuses on his journey, the proceedings gain tempo with the narrative branching out into multiple sub-tracks. The less-evolved IQ of Rizwan with which he sets on an unwarranted journey that subsequently gains him global fame is evocative of Tom Hank's Forrest Gump .

Of the several subplots, Arif Zakaria’s Muslim fundamentalist character, which is a clichéd replication of what Om Puri played in Shoot on Sight and Johar’s own Kurbaan , was too formulaic and absolutely avoidable. Especially so when the film abstained itself so considerately from touching terrorist intricacies! Also the thunderstorm in the pre-climax only dilutes the impact and could clearly have been averted. The entire supporting cast joining Rizvan in restoring the storm-struck village appears too fabricated.

One does feel that the climax is too idealistic, conflicts are conveniently resolved and the length is long enough that you feel having witnessed the rule of two American Presidents (like in the film). To connect it to contemporary times, the central repercussion of 2001 attack in the film is stretched till 2007. And can’t resist a trivial observation that while the director opts for two child actors to depict the progression of Rizvan Khan by hardly a couple of years, Rizvan’s son is played by the same child artist for more than half a decade.

Barring these blemishes, Shibani Bhatija’s screenplay has its heart in the right place. Notice the finer nuances in dialogues (written by Shibani Bhatija and Niranjan Iyengar) when Rizvan says ‘ Meri maa marr gayi kyunki unka dil zaroorat se zyada bada tha ’ or the one where he says ‘ Namaaz ke liye jagah nahi neeyat dekhni chahiye ’. One of the beautiful moments is when the inspirational desi track ‘ Hum Honge Kamyaab ’ is fused with its English counterpart ‘ We Shall Overcome ’ blending compositions with cultures.
Technical and Other Departments:
Ravi K Chandran’s cinematography is outstanding. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy’s music is pleasing and isn’t overdone. Sharmishta Roy’s art direction is decent but the flood-hit village could have been better designed than those tacky studio sets.

Artist Performance:

Clearly having its spotlight on Khan, Shah Rukh does a decent job in playing an innocent autistic Rizvan who is a mobile encyclopedia on jargons, repeats words in his speech, takes every spoken line literally and doesn’t directly confront any person. But one can’t deny that there’s a certain degree of Shah Rukh (the star) still visible in Rizvan (the character). Whether Shah Rukh is unable to completely get over his set image or Karan Johar wanted to retain certain level of Shah Rukh Khan in the character is debatable. But it’s still a safe bet because there is an endearing charm to the actor/character. His performances starts off as rehearsed but you soon adapt to his act.
It’s refreshing to watch Kajol after a while and she shows the same spunk in her act. The script, however, restricts the scope of chemistry between SRK and Kajol beyond a point as Karan Johar pushes the genre beyond romance. Everyone in the supporting cast from Jimmy Sheirgill, Sonya Jehan to Zarina Wahab are fair enough but have minimal scope. Tarun Mansukhani hams in the four scenes that he gets.

Final View:
Like his placard that reads ‘Repair almost anything’, Shah Rukh Khan makes up for every minor inconsistency in the film. My Name is Khan is worth a watch on his name alone. Its a good film to watch this weekend.

Striker Hindi Movie Review:

Story And Movie Analysis:

Okay, so this film does go back in time and picks up a story from Mumbai's dark night that followed the demolition of the Babri mosque on December 6, 1992. Under ordinary circumstances, it might have seemed dated. But today, with the city warding off another divisive and equally dark night that's dangerously looming on the horizon, this time due to the scourge of regionalism, Chandan Arora's Striker, acquires a whole new meaning. Don't divide our city, all you goons, goondas, politicos and administrators, it cries out aloud, through its moving tale of two young lads -- one Hindu, one Muslim -- who try to lead a life of normalcy, despite the shadow of crime and communalism. Childhood buddies, Surya (Siddharth) and Zaid (Ankur Vikal) not only end up toasting the undying bond of friendship, they also salute the spirit of communal harmony, characteristic of their city, through their carefree camaraderie. But the real hero of the film is Malvani, the ghetto where the two grow up and dream of escape. The director captures the area with artistic detail and an edgy urgency that brings to life another compelling cameo of Mumbai, India's Maximum City. The crummy interiors of the claustrophobic dwellings where families may be low on money, but not on love and the violent alleys where death lurks round the corner in the guise of a naked sword, all coalesce as a perfect backdrop for the young and rebellious Surya to come of age.

Although he discovers his skills at carrom at a young age, Surya first tries to find life beyond the grimy, crime-infested carrom clubs that dot Malvani. He wants to get away from the mach-mach (confusion) and make money in not-so-distant Dubai. But when an agent dupes him of his hard-earned money, he's forced to find sustenance in Jaleel's (Aditya Pancholi), the local goonda, carrom clubs where it isn't the striker alone that's at stake. Life's a risky business too, specially since Jaleel wants to take advantage of the communal tension rampant in the city to play his local politics.

Director Chandan Arora has already proved his desire to make different cinema with his earlier two ventures: Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon and Main, Meri Patni aur Woh. With Striker he continues to successfully strike out for new grounds. The high point of the film is its authenticity, its heartwarming tale and its performances. Siddharth's Surya is a fine follow-up act to his Rang De Basanti's new age revolutionary. Others to watch out for are Aditya Pancholi who reinvents himself as the local goon, Ankur Vikal, as Zaid, the spaced-out bird on a wire, Vidya Malvade as the understanding elder sister and Padmapriya, the tart with a heart.

Final View:
Don't believe the lack lustre promos. The film has more meat -- and meaning -- than it promises. Watch this if you are a film lover.

BINDAS MOVIE REVIEW

Banner: A K Entertainment
Cast: Manoj Kumar Manchu, Sheena, Vennela Kishore, Jaya Prakash Reddy, Ahuti Prasad, Brahmanandam, Sunil, Raghu Babu, MS Narayana..etc

Music: Bobo Sashi

Cinematography: Ramesh Babu
Editing: Marthand K Vankatesh
Story - screenplay - dialogues - director: Veeru Potla
Producer: Sunkara Ramabrahmam

Release date: 5 February 2010

Rating :

BINDAS TELUGU MOVIE REVIEW:

story:
Ajay (Manoj Manchu) and his parents are alienated from a big family of factionists in Rayalaseema. Ajay belongs to the family of Mahendra Naidu (Ahuti Prasad). Seshadri Naidu (Jaya prakash Reddy) is the enemy of Mahendra Naidu. They keep killing the family members of each other. The story of the movie is all about the free spirited Ajay puts an end to these killings.

Artists Performance:
Manoj Manchu: Manoj Manchu deserves a huge round of applause for his terrific work in this movie. Manoj has shown inclination to do something different with Nenu Meeku Telusa and Prayanam movies. Bindaas is a regular commercial film and Manoj Manchu brought a new perspective to his character with his extremely cool attitude. Characterization done by Veeru Potla should also be commended. His dialogue delivery, comedy expressions and dare-devil stunts are really good.

Others: Sheena looks like a kid (not like a heroine of a commercial film) and she is adequate. Vennela Kishore gets an entertaining role and he is really good. Sunil is nice in the supportive role. Master Bharat has done another entertaining character in this movie. Brahmanandam entertains again. MS Narayana is good though his role is a small one.

Technical departments :
Story - screenplay - direction: Story of the movie is little predictable. The story has some shades in Venky’s Kalisundam Raa. What separates this movie from the similar movies that came in the recent months was the treatment and characterizations done by the first time director Veeru Potla. He shows very good promise with this movie and he has it in him to become big in the future. He has got good timing in comedy and entertainment. However, he needs to work on the holistic perspective of the movie.

Other departments: Music by Bobo Sashi should have been better. Cinematography is alright. Dialogues by Veeru Potla are huge plus to the movie. There are a good number of humor-laced conversations at regular intervals. Stunts and chases are beautifully coordinated. Producer Anil Sunkara comes up with good production values and publicity.

Analysis:
First half of the movie is entertaining. Second half goes on predictable mode. Climax is clichéd. Debutant director Veeru Potla shows promise and he has got good grip in entertaining scenes. Plus points of the movie are Manoj Manchu’s entertaining performance and entertainment. On the flipside, heroine and music should have been better. The story of Bindaas offers nothing new, but Veeru Potla succeeds in making this movie appear entertaining despite of clichéd story. Bindaas also has enough commercial elements that could work at box office.

Final View:
If you are a big fan of manoj just watch the film. because only manoj was good in the film.

YUGANIKI OKKADU MOVIE REVIEW:

Story And Movie Analysis:

Yuganiki Okkadu Telugu Movie (Tamil: ஆயிரத்தில் à®’à®°ுவன், Telugu: Yuganiki Okkadu, English: One Man in a Thousand) is a 2010 fantasy adventure Tamil–language (dubbed in telugu) film directed by Selvaraghavan, who with the project, directs his fifth feature film.
The film begins with an episode in AD 1279, when the successor of the last great Chola Emperor, pending invasion, sends his people, to survive the threat. The story resumes with an archaeologist, a coolie and a member of the army going in search of the archaeologist's father to the ruined city that was the place the exiled Chola Prince retreated to. An expedition is promptly arranged, and on the course they stumble on the lost Chola civilization and its king and find unexplained links between them and the culture. The shocking events and the problems that arise forms the crux of the story.
The film languished in development hell due to slow progress of the shoot and the extensive pre and post-production works, evading release dates ranging one year. Shooting began in July 2007, and took place in various locations: Chalakudy, Kerala; Jaisalmer, Rajasthan; and other regions throughout India with a record number of extras. Prior to release, the film was given an adult rating by the Central Board of Film Certification and worldwide rights for the film were sold for a record Rs.35 crores. The film released simultaneously with a Telugu dubbing, coinciding with the festival of Thai Pongal on 14 January 2010. Upon release the film has remarkably received contrastingly mixed reviews.
The film begins symbolically with a performance of Therukoothu, or street play, with the folk art showing the last minutes of the Chola King's reign. Then the audience is taken to A.D. 1279, where the death of the Chola dynasty seems imminent and people are being driven out of their kingdom by the Pandyas in southern India. To escape from them and save the life of his successor, the Chola emperor sends his son, along with his people to a secret territory unknown to his enemies. The prince is seen leaving with the chosen few who are made responsible for the safety of the prince and the rest of the people. The Cholas also take away with them an idol sacred to the Pandyas, which angers them even more. To capture the escaped Cholas and retrieve their idol, the Pandyas extend their invasion to the unexplored territories which the Cholas cover with their prince, but eventually fail.
Several centuries later in 2009, Indian archaeologists continue searching for the existence of the lost Chola group based on clues left by the ancient Pandyan warriors. But all the archaeologists, who attempt to search for the secret land disappear during the search missions. Archaeologist Chandramouli (Pratap Pothan) is the most recent person to have reportedly traced the empire but he also fails to return from his mission.
The Indian government organizes a search expedition led by officer Anitha Pandiyan (Reemma Sen) to find Chandramouli and the Chola Empire with assistance from the Indian army led by Ravisekharan (Azhagam Perumal). They meet archaeologist Lavanya (Andrea Jeremiah), the estranged daughter of the missing archaeologist Chandramouli, and she assists Anitha and gives crucial documents prepared by her father on the Chola dynasty with instructions on the route to reach the destination. She also joins the expedition since her insight is considered essential for the success of the project.
Along with the army, Anitha employs a group of porters headed by Muthu (Karthi Sivakumar), to transport the baggage during the journey. The crew embark on a voyage leading them to an island, Min-gua, near Vietnam. Here they are faced with the seven traps set by the Cholas: sea creatures, cannibals, warriors, snakes, hunger, quick sand and a village. Many porters and army men are killed on their way.
Muthu, Anitha and Lavanya get separated from the others. They reach the ruins of a village where they get subjected to black magic. They nearly go mad before finally reaching the secret hideout of the Chola dynasty. The three of them find an ethnic isolated primitive Tamil group ruled by a Chola king (R. Parthiban). The king and his people are in hiding, awaiting the arrival of the fabled messenger whom they believe will bring glory and prosperity back to their land and/or lead them back to their motherland (Thanjavur). The king and the priest consult the Gods for omens and order Muthu, Anitha and Lavanya to be burnt alive as sacrifice to their gods.
At this point, Anitha tells the king that she is the messenger he has been eagerly awaiting, sent from the homeland. Muthu and Lavanya are taken as slaves. Anitha is given a chance to prove herself as the messenger. She tries to seduce the king and convinces the Chola king to heed her message - to march towards the homeland two days from then with his people and he would be crowned a proper king. He suspects her bona fides since none of Anitha's actions match the qualities of the messenger described by his ancestors and ancient paintings - the messenger will be ill-treated at first, but will eventually help out the local tribe and, also his arrival will be preceded by hail.
Meanwhile, Anitha drugs the priest and poisons the water sources. She catches a glimpse of the Pandyas' sacred idol and leaves, finally exposing her identity as a descendent of the Pandya Dynasty. For generations, her race has been trying to find the whereabouts of the Chola prince and his people who escaped with the idol. The central minister who sponsors the expedition also is shown to be of Pandyan descent. The Chola king is shattered for having believed in Anitha as his true messenger. Anitha, with Ravishekaran, gathers an army and assaults the hidden kingdom. The Cholas are at war once again with the Pandyas. In due course, the king finds that Muthu is the true messenger - the chosen one who would save the Cholas from the clutches of Anitha and the army.
They fight bravely but the Cholas lose and are taken prisoners. Their women are molested and raped by the army and the king is killed. The men drown in the seas. The story ends with Muthu saving the Chola prince. Thus the seed of the Chola dynasty is brought back to India by the messenger as predicted.
