vidya Balan New bollywood film The Dirty Picture Movie Review:

There's one type of film that attracts audience by titillating them with item numbers, then there's one that cheekily slips in some skin show in a bid to provide some 'entertainment' and then there's one that revels in its boldness and unabashedly celebrates blatancy and serves itself in a steaming hot platter ready to be devoured! The Dirty Picture is one such film.

The pre-release buzz numbers of this film are so high that even while this review is being written there might by thousands of tickets being booked in advance to catch the first day first show. So let's find out whether this sizzler actually provides for some substance or not.

Story and Movie Analysis:
Inspired from the life of south siren and '80s dancing star Silk Smitha, The Dirty Picture (TDP) is the story of Reshma (Vidya Balan), a small town, poor and tackily dressed woman with fire in her belly to make a name in the South Film industry. She can do anything to quench her thirst for becoming a successful star and despite repeated demeaning rejections it's her passion that keeps her going on. She eventually breaks the jinx by unabashedly choosing to make a 'compromise' and that's it. From there begins the rise of the sex siren Silk who wooed all men making them move to her tunes and left everyone panting and lusting for more with each film of hers. But just as quickly as this sensuous diva rises to stardom and success, she falls as steeply into anonymity.

Known for her in-your-face attitude that even reflects in her films, Ekta Kapoor has surely redefined Hindi cinema with ballsy films like Love Sex Aur Dhoka or Ragini MMS. A dialogue in the film 'Picture chalti hai sirf teen cheeson se, entertainment, entertainment, entertainment!' is one statement that aptly defines Ekta's films as she brings in a perfect blend of realism, boldness, masala and storyline.

But as they say a producer is only as good as a money machine and a film eventually lies in the hands of a director. Milan Luthria who snatched a roaring success with his last release Once Upon A Time In Mumbai this time around takes his filmmaking expertise to another level. He handles a bold topic in its boldest avatar without crossing the line of vulgarity and gives ample amount of entertainment.

The entire first half is highly entertaining making you clap, hoot or whistle every five minutes. The biggest take away of the film are its dialogues. Writer Rajat Arora has done an exceptionally brilliant job in penning some of the wittiest double entendres that were never heard before. The repartees, the below the belt jokes or even the one liners of Silk make you guffaw, clap and whistle.

The second half slumps considerably with the love angle between Abraham and Silk and even the downfall of Silk appears a little superficial. The editing of the film could be tight to make for a crisp experience. The prelude to the end appears too stretched making you restless.

However, if there's one thing that can cover all the flaws or even more if there were any it's Vidya Balan. With The Dirty Picture she unleashes a wild and bold side of hers that has never been seen before. TDP is a Vidya Balan film all the way. She delivers a crackling performance that of an unapologetic sex siren. Her buxom and voluptuous avatar and all the seductress moves are spot on and unblemished. She not only celebrates the boldness of her character but even brings out the vulnerability of Silk brilliantly.

Artist Performance:
Vidya's performance couldn't be praiseworthy if it weren't for the contribution of acting legend Naseeruddin Shah who yet again delivers an outstanding performance as the South Superstar of the '80s, Suryakant. One can only be jaw-dropped, gaping at the energy and versatility of an actor who from doing offbeat films can switch to running around trees grooving with his leading lady. Kudos to Naseeruddin for bringing in the right masala to TDP. Tusshar Kapoor's role remains too small and doesn't quite come out well while Emraan Hashmi acts well.

Technical and other Departments:
Vishal-Shekhar deliver a good soundtrack. 'Ooo La La' is easily the song of the year [rendered brilliantly by Bappi Lahiri and Shreya Ghoshal], while 'Ishq Sufiyana' has long legs too. Another striking track is 'Honeymoon Ki Raat'. The choreography of these tracks [Pony Prakash Raj], especially 'Ooh La La', is straight out of the 80s. Bobby Singh's cinematography is magnificent.

Final View:
To sum it up, The Dirty Picture reiterates that bold is beautiful. A ballsy entertainer that deserves a watch!

Akshay Kumar New Bollywood Film Desi Boyz Movie Review:
Whenever you hear an actor say, 'This film is different', you know you are in for a run of the mill cliché. However, there are times when their words come as an exception and in case of Desi Boyz it's definitely one, and a pleasant exception at that.

Story and Movie Analysis:
Set against the time financial meltdown across the globe, Desi Boyz is the story of Jignesh Patel a.k.a Jerry Patel (Akshay Kumar), a security guard and Nick Mathur (John Abraham), an investment banker. Life is perfect as the two live happily in their London pad. However, fate takes an ugly turn when the two lose their jobs during recession and face heavy financial problems. While Nick needs money for a happy married life with Radhika Awasthi (Deepika Padukone), Jerry needs financial support to take care of his late sister's son Veer. With no job at hand, the distressed friends turn to being male escorts. How their lives take a turn after that, how Radhika handles Nick's new profession and whether Jerry manages to get Veer back from his foster family or not follows through the rest of the plot.

Desi Boyz may definitely not be a water-tight script neither can it be called an extremely original plot for it seeks 'inspiration' from many a Hollywood films and also an apparent real life story, however, it's the execution of the film that makes one get transported into the lives of the actors. While the first half trudges at snail's pace with a few comic punches here and there, it's the second half that involves all the fun and frolic making for an enjoyable watch.

Debutante filmmaker Rohit Dhawan who happens to be comedy king David Dhawan's son doesn't quite follow the footsteps of his father and saves his film from treading into slapstick regions. Though wavering in the start, Rohit holds the reigns of his film quite well and does bring in a decent blend of story, emotions and humour. There are scenes in Jerry Patel's plot easily picked up from Adam Sandler's films, Billy Maddison being one of them, but they don't quite pinch in the broader scenario and might get unnoticed.

Even the songs in the film don't break in unnecessarily and are perfectly placed in the storyline. Music by Pritam works well with the story of the film and complements the star perfectly, not to mention they already ruling the charts.

Artist Performance:
Akshay Kumar, much against the recent hamming he was accused of in many a comedy films of his, delivers a restrained yet pleasant performance. His chemistry with Chitrangada Singh is sizzling and the two definitely set the screen on fire in one of the salsa scenes though Chitrangada's stand alone character appears very rushed up.

John Abraham exhibits tremendous amount of improvement from his last attempt at comedy with Akshay Kumar in Garam Masala. From a completely clueless and overshadowed actor in Garam Masala to an equivalent of his experienced co-star in Desi Boyz, John has definitely come a long way. His pairing with Deepika Padukone is also refreshing and pleasant.

But what takes the cake in the entire film and probably gives clap-worthy moments to fans is the entry of Sanjay Dutt. Each time he makes entry on to the screen he exudes magnetic charisma with his appearance is also aided by the best punches and dialogues in the entire film.

Technical and Other departments:
Milap Zaveri's lines are witty and sharp. Natrajan Subramaniam's cinematography is eye-filling. The production design is top notch. Pritam's music compliments the mood of the film. The choreography is striking.

Final View:
To sum it up, Desi Boyz despite all flaws provides for wholesome desi entertainment. An enjoyable one time watch specially for Sanjay Dutt's performance! Go for it!

Ranbir Kapoor New Hindi Film Rockstar Movie Review:
A large crowd queued up outside Verona Arena, Italy, one of the most renowned places of Italy, eager fans awaiting for the concert of Jordan to start, and amidst all this a dishevelled and unkempt looking rockstar breaks through the clout of cops after a fight into the arena showing complete disregard to his fans, storms onto the stage with a rage and croons to his hearts content.

Story:
Cut to the past, Janardhan Jakhar (Ranbir Kapoor) a simple haryanvi boy from Pritampura Delhi who yearns to become a big singer someday falls prey to multiple suggestions from people like a gullible person, most intending only to cause mockery. One of the many suggestions is to undergo a heart break or inhabit a pain in the heart because as Khatana, the canteen owner (Kumud Mishra) says, "toote dil se hi sangeet nikalta hai".

Janardhan thinks he hasn't seen bad times and to come to the stature of Jim Morrison he has to do something about it. That's it, enters Heer Kaul (Nargis Fakhri) a PYT of the Stephen's College. While the entire college ogles her, Janardhan keeps proposing her for her to humiliate him and in turn give a much needed heart break. That doesn't quite happen, but in the process they both become friends and soon after Janardhan gets coined Jordan and through many highs and lows of his life (read heartbreak), the simple gullible boy turns to an angry Rockstar!

You might want to blame your memory for reminding you of Mausam but Rockstar to some extents treads the same path. The film traces the journey of the lead actors from Delhi to Kashmir then to Prague and back to Delhi while each time their love each other remains unrequited.

It takes nearly 3 hours to establish the birth of a raged sensation who traverses from wishing he could get away with showing his middle finger as a salute just like Jim Morrison to actually doing it in a fit of rage.

Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali who gave Hindi cinema one of the most celebrated romantic films Jab We Met showcases his prowess brilliantly in the first half as he slices and dices the cuts from past to present and back to past. The is simply perfect. The pace is breezy, enjoyable and most importantly relatable and believable. It even gives you glimpses of Jab We Met.

However, just when your expectations are hightened with the first half and you look forward to the second you are in for a huge disappointment. As that's when the trite Bollywood cliches seep in. So much to your agony you have a reasonable sick and bed ridden Heer who gets better only when she meets Jordan. He has some apparent "magic" in him to be curing her just by sight so much so that she starts walking, going places and even her medical condition magically improves. And in his absence she again goes back to being sick.

The characters too are unevenly sketched. So while on one hand you have the backdrop and characters of middleclass Delhiites perfectly established on the other you see the Kashmiris appearing very caricaturish. They wear kashmiri outfits, despite being in Delhi, their living style is completely like that so much so that you think that if there were no cars in Delhi, you must just find them roaming in Shikaras!

Artist Performance:
Ranbir Kapoor excels in his acting and gives a crackling performance. Nargis appears conscious and has a very distracting pout that makes her appears as if she is overacting! Piyush Mishra as Dhigra is perfect and Kumud Mishra does a swell job throughout the film.A special mention of Shammi Kapoor who lights up the screen in his cameo which can also be called his last appearance on the celluloid. A pleasure and delight to see Shammi Kapoor in complete glory!

Technical and Other Departments:
Music by AR Rahman needs no mention as it already has the nation tuned to it.
Cinematography by Anil Mehta is commendable while editing by Aarti Bajaj could be better or remain consistent just as it was in the first half.

Final View :
Over all, Rockstar may not be one of the finest attempts but is definitely worth a watch for its pleasing first half and the ace performance of Ranbir Kapoor.

LOOT MOVIE REVIEW

Cast & crew :Govinda,Mahakshay Chakraborty,Shweta Bhardwaj,Suniel Shetty,Javed Jaffrey

Govinda New Bollywood film loot Hindi Movie Review:
So the team of Hindi film industry's old times Govinda, Suneil Shetty and Jaaved Jaafery come together for a film as hackneyed and tripe as themselves. Produced by Suneil Shetty himself, Loot has the three coming together in an attempted comedy directed by debutant filmmaker Rajnish Raj Thakur. Whether the comedy tickles people's funny bones or not remains to be seen.

Story & Movie Analaysis:
Loot revolves around four characters Pandit (Govinda), Akbar (Jaaved Jaafery), Builder (Suniel Shetty) and Wilson (Mahaakshay Chakraborthy). All happen to be small time robbers and cons and are called together to execute a big heist planned by Batlivala (Dalip Tahil). The four are set out to Pataya to pull off a robbery of jewels. But expect the bumbling thieves to fill their plans with errors and they never fail you.

A shoddy rip off of Hollywood flick Crime Spree, Loot clearly has a very jaded feel to it. Not only has the film been in the pipelines since a very long time (easily noticeable from Mahaakshay's hefty appearance), even the filmmaking sensibilities are very trite.

One can easily point out that there have been no efforts on writing the script or the screenplay as the film is a scene by scene lift off. However, it wouldn't be wrong for one to expect at least some amount of execution put behind this copied copy too. But debutant filmmaker beats you even at that.

The entire film is mired by tawdry situations, tacky production values and aching dialogues. So much so that you feel like storming out of the theater. Almost 80 per cent of the dialogues rhyme for no rhyme or reason making you wonder if the characters on screen are trying to play antakshri

Artist Performances:
Govinda, Suneil Shetty and Jaaved Jaafery put together could make up for a very good comedy as one cannot doubt their comic timing. If only the filmmaker could tap that.

Mahaakshay is a complete disaster and is one of the sort points of the film. Shweta Bhardwaj barely has scenes in the film. Ravi Kissen's plot is completely wasted and he only reminds you of the painful film Chitkabrey.

Mika and Kim Sharma yet again are wasted, not that Mika as an actor could be tapped better. The biggest waste of a resource is of Mahesh Manjrekar. An actor of his caliber could really do wonders in the film but sadly gets reduced to doing his hackneyed act of his earlier times.

Technical and Other departments:
This Film Fails in all departments, Rakhi Sawant's item number comes right towards the end credits and by then you are already out of the theater running for your lives. Mika's promotional track doesn't exist in the film while Music overall is best avoided.

Final View:
On the whole, Loot robs you off your sanity. Watch it at your own risk.

Shah Rukh Khan New Hindi Film Ra.one Movie Review:
Here's a movie the Hindi film industry can be proud of. "Ra.One" can be touted as the first Hindi film that blends the elegance of Hollywood with Indian sensibilities. From the very onset, this classy sci-fi film sets the viewers' adrenalin soaring. It also educates, entertains and eulogises our culture. And, very predictably, from the very beginning you know that the crux of the film is about how good triumphs over evil. "Ra.One" dwells into the virtual world of today's youngsters who are hooked on to technology and video games.Prateik (Armaan Verma) is one of them. For him the villain is the hero simply because he does not play by the rules. It's winning, by hook or by crook, that matters to him.

Story And Movie Analysis:
Shekhar Subramanium (Shah Rukh Khan), the clumsy, nerdy game developer father of Prateik, lovingly tries convincing his son with, "Allow me to quote...." and quotes Mahatma Gandhi and such like. The youngster is unimpressed, thereby revealing the generation and cultural gap between the two of them. Disheartened by the strain in the father-son relationship, Shekhar develops the invincible Random Access One (Ra.One), who can take any form, to please his son. Still not fully convinced with his own creation, as a standby he also develops Good One (G- One), who could exterminate Ra.One if need be.Excited with his father's creation, Prateik plays Ra.One with a screen name, Lucifer. He manages to cross level two of the video game, thereby antagonising "Ra.One". Unknown to Shekhar and his team, Ra.One steps out of the game into their real world to eliminate Lucifer, thereby threatening Prateik's life.

This concept of the characters sliding from the virtual world into the real world seems to have been inspired from the Hollywood film, "The Purple Rose of Cairo".

"Ra.One" is an outright Shah Rukh Khan film.

The way Shah Rukh gracefully slips into the roles of Shekhar, Ra.One and G-One, leaving no room for confusion, is remarkable. He is the superhero of the film. That's because the script was skillfully and convincingly put together by Anubhav Sinha, Kanika Dhillon, Mushtaq Sheikh and David Benullo. The dialogues by Kanika and Niranjan Iyengar are good in parts. The little gimmicks by Sanjay Dutt, Priyanka Chopra and Rajnikant add to the lighter moments of the film but take the story nowhere. Shahana Goswami as the employee at the electronic company and Arjun Rampal as Ra.One look fine for the roles they play but have very little to deliver. Armaan as Pratiek is impressive. The outfits of Ra.One and G-One designed by Robert Kurtzman and the bright production design are worth a mention.

Artist Performances:
RA.ONE is a perfect vehicle that does justice to the talent of Shah Rukh Khan. He seems to have found a story and character that work in perfect sync and tandem with manic energy. SRK steers this physically challenging lead role with high-spirited self-belief. He's endearing as the father and magnificent as the superhero with a heart. Kareena Kapoor is a delight to watch. She effortlessly glides into the character. Besides, she looks ethereal in the 'Chammak Chhallo' song and her wit is infectious. Arjun Rampal pulls his act with effortlessness and style. Also, Arjun's well-designed look is admirable.

I'd like to make a special mention of Armaan Verma, the kid who has a pivotal part to portray. He stands shoulder to shoulder with SRK and Kareena all through the film and delivers a super-confident performance. The film has a number of actors in key roles [Shahana Goswami, Dalip Tahil, Satish Shah, Suresh Menon, Mushtaq Shiekh and Tom Wu] and each of them fit well in their respective parts. Sanjay Dutt and Priyanka Chopra add to the glam quotient, while Rajnikanth proves yet again that he's a scene stealer.

Technical And Other Departments:
Vishal-Shekhar's music and the background score along with the awesome stunts and thrilling chases are electrifying. The film would not have been what it is if it was not for Resul Pookutty's sound design, Sanjay Sharma's editing and for the visual and special effects team. With all the minor blemishes, this movie is still worth seeing at least once. This high energetic film is loaded with antics, animation and action. With many thrilling sequences mounted with grandeur, it gives you the feel of a live video game. It is probably one of the classiest movies seen in the Hindi film industry and a feather in Anubhav's hat.

Final View:
On the whole, RA.ONE is a solid entertainer, no two opinions on that. It's not merely a great looking film, but also has soul, which is so essential to strike a chord with the avid moviegoer. As for the business prospects, RA.ONE is sure to shatter all previous records and set new ones, in India as well as internationally. The film will be the new yardstick for measuring success.
its a good film to watch this diwali with your family.

Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt new hindi Film Rascals Movie Review:

A very safe bet in Hindi film industry is to release a comedy on a festive occasion. No matter how it is, it always breaks records. Taking the safer route comes Sanjay Dutt who releases his debut home production venture Rascals on Dusshera. Whether the festivity translates in to huge queues at the ticket windows or not remains to be seen.

Story and Movie Analysis:
Two conmen Bhagat Bhosle (Ajay Devgn) and Chetan Chauhan (Sanjay Dutt) spend most of their time trying to outdo each other whenever their paths cross. After having duped a small time don Anthony (Arjun Rampal) the two take off to Bangkok and meet a hot and rich model Khushi (Kangna Ranaut). That's when their new conning plan takes off and both try to outwit each other by winning Khushi's heart and money. Who takes the cake eventually follows through a series of madcap incidents.

Directed by David Dhawan, a man once known solely for tickling your funny bones seems to be in his struggling phase. That's the only way one can define the poor direction effort made in this slapstick comedy. Though the film takes off very well it ends up being the same old comedy one is seeing over the last few months.
Bollywood filmmakers definitely have found some combination of comedy and noise and maybe that's just why almost all recent comedies have ended up being blaring. For example, Bin Bulaye Baraati, Double Dhamaal, Chatursingh Two Star, Ready, Tere Mere Phere and the recent Hum Tum Shabana. Even Rascals falls in the same category. The entire second half where the main confusion lies is all about loud and jarring background score and actors yelling without any mercy on the audience.

Though thoughtful, the dialogues throughout the film are mostly rhythmic bordering on almost sounding corny. For example, Ghadi ho toh Rado, Gaadi ho toh Prado aur serial ho toh Na Aana Is Des Lado.

Some of the jokes do make you guffaw and chuckle while some over used and abused SMS jokes turn out to be big irritants. The cinematography of the film is very glossy and stylish and definitely there seems no cut back on the quality of the shoot. Rascals could've been better, more like All The Best that had both Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt had it been for better situational comedy instead of the conmen drama.

Artist Performances :
Sanju and Ajay work together with an exuberant and high spirited ease and that, surely, is a joy to watch. Even though Sanju has been doing comedies ever since the beginning of his career, it has only been in the last few years that Ajay has discovered his funny bone, courtesy films like GOLMAAL series, ALL THE BEST and DIL TOH BACCHA HAI JI. The comic timing of the two actors is simply fantastic!

One is surprised at the inclusion of Arjun Rampal in a madcap entertainer, albeit in a small but significant role. Arjun contributes to the comic portions of RASCALS. Kangna makes a conscious effort to break her dramatic and tragic roles' image, which explains why she is working predominantly in light-hearted films now. She carries off her part with effortless ease. Lisa Haydon looks alluring and acts reasonably well. Chunkey Pandey is excellent, Satish Kaushik leaves a mark in a cameo and Hiten Paintal lends able support.

Final View:
Over all, Rascals will work only with those who love to wishfully forget their brains at home while going for a film. For those seeking substance in cinema, Rascals will make you look like a rascal for having made the choice. I give it 2.25 stars.

Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor New Hindi Film Mausam Movie Review:
It takes a lot for any actor to give away two years of his career for a film. And when one does, expectations from him peak to extreme extents. Shahid Kapoor might just be facing the same. After almost two years, the actor is making his way to silver screen with his father's ambitious project Mausam. The film has already been the centre of controversies first with the Indian Air Force's disapproval and now the Railway ruckus. Now it only remains to be seen whether it meets people's expectations or not.

Story and Movie Analysis:
Mausam is a love saga of two star-crossed lovers Harinder Singh aka Harry (Shahid Kapoor) and Aayat (Sonam Kapoor) who keep meeting and separating time and again due to their ill-fate that works against them each time. Harry, a Punjab da munda first meets Aayat, a troubled soul displaced from Kashmir due to the political problems going there in small village Mallukot in Punjab. They meet, a vintage style love story sparks between the two and before the two can confess their love to each other comes the first twist, Aayat suddenly moves to Mumbai and Harry takes to further education as an air force pilot. Seven years later, the two meet again, this time in Scotland. Love reignites, but this time Harry disappears; Courtesy Kargil war. This happens twice over again and the ill-fated lovers keep hoping that they may re-unite someday. How they come together EVENTUALLY, follows through the rest of the plot.

If you think that even the concise version of the plot appears long, then wait till you see this film. With a run time of nearly 3 hours, Mausam is painfully long and can easily pass off as a never-ending saga. Mausam's tagline 'A love story beyond romance' definitely holds true to itself as there are almost all the political events included in the film that occurred between 1992 to 2002 and surprisingly each and every event affects the lives of the couple.

Mausam opens to a breezy, rustic and scenic Mallukot. The way filmmaker Pankaj Kapur weaves the love story with the backdrop of the small town in Punjab is very poetic. You almost get engulfed into the fascinating setting of Mallukot. The seedy lanes, the lush green farms and the joint terraces of bungalows; each and every frame is artistically captured by cinematographer Binod Pradhan.

Artist Performances:
The chemistry between Sonam and Shahid remains consistent throughout the film and is praiseworthy. Right from the coyness in their love when they first meet to the intensity in their romance when they first kiss in Scotland, every aspect is well-defined. Shahid as an Air-Force though may resemble Brad Pitt of Inglorious Bastard but Shahid with all his boyish charm as a mischievous villager is very pleasing. Sonam struggles to act but appears extremely beautiful throughout the film and shares some of the most brilliant scenes with Shahid. The music of the film by Pritam brings out the romance and the longing of the couple brilliantly too. Supriya Pathak, Manoj Pahwa, Anupam Kher and almost each and every character actor contribute in making a film worthy.

Technical Departments:
But despite many awesome moments in Mausam there are also many moments in the film that are bothersome. The biggest being its clichéd predictability. Even before a scene unravels on the screen you know what you are about to see. Moreover, the excessive usage of unsettling political events is tiresome and annoying. The script appears hugely flawed in the second half and hence makes people lose interest in the film. The climax of the film is highly filmy and would either make you red on your face or would make you laugh and the clichéd execution. Some of the dialogues too are very philosophical and serve as irritant. The highly controversial action sequence of the fighter planes is just about 2 minutes long and very amateurish. One barely gets a feel of an air force raid.

Final View:
To sum it up, Mausam is flawed and tiresome but still has a good chance with people who are simply in love with love.

Imaran Khan And Katrina Kaif New hindi Film Mere Brother Ki Dulhan Movie Review:
Well it Seems To be This Film was not worked so far that Audience and Fans Has Expexted. Its Not a nither hit nor Flop.

Story And Movie Analysis:
Somewhere in the vast spaces of mainstream Hindi cinema, the North Indian shaadi with its band baaja and, yes, baarati, seems to have made a permanent place in our cinema. "Mere Brother Ki Dulhan" (MBKD) is the third film in the last 8 months after the delightful "Band Baaja Baarat" and the surprising "Tanu Weds Manu" to weave a rom-com around the sights, sounds, scents, stress, chaos and satire of a big fat Hindu wedding.

Must say, the other two films got it right dead-on. MBKD flounders in its frisky fusion of a love triangle and plea for an arranged marriage. Debutant director Ali Abbas Zafar knows the subtexts in his script well enough to conceal the rather glaring discrepancies in the storytelling.

The narration quite frequently relies on jump cuts, retro music and other external ploys to make the goings-on appear more involving than they really are. The recurrent use of R.D. Burman's "Piya to ab to aaja" has no relevance after a point. It just becomes a tiresome inclusion.

The three main characters, played by three watchable stars one of them from across the border, manage to take the plot's improbabilities into the province of the palatable. But the situational humour doesn't quite have the delightfully disarming naturalness of "Band Baaja Baraat".

But the characters exude a contagious warmth, more in their individual capacity than in combinations. For a film about love warmth togetherness and family bonding during the time of a wedding, the interactive warmth between characters is strangely missing. Besides one memorable sequence towards the beginning in front of the Taj Mahal (a recurring cultural and sociological symbol in the film) when they share cold chai, there is little to suggest any serious bonding between Katrina Kaif and Imran Khan...or for that matter, between the two brothers played by Ali Zafar and Imran Khan.

Zafar who delighted in the satirical mode of "Tere Bin Laden", returns with yet another performance that knows how over-the-top to go without toppling over. Yup, Zafar gets it pitch-perfect all the way. The same cannot be said of the film which occasionally slips into becoming a stretch.

What really redeems the film's blind spots is Katrina Kaif who brings a very special transparency and dazzle to her role of a wild child who wants to have all the fun that she can before she settles into a comfortably arranged marriage with the rakish NRI Ali Zafar.

Fun, as it turns out, leading to falling in love with her brother-in-law-to-be. The turn of events may surprise the characters. We remain largely detached from the synthesis of celebration and drama.

Artist Performances:
"What will I tell everyone? That I fell in love with my Bhabhi?" the embarrassed and horrified brother-in-law tells his untamable babhi-to-be.

That's Imran Khan, playing the sweet-tempered benign do-gooder once again. Khan stays in his comfort zone while Katrina comes out of it to give herself and the audience the time of her life. Here the supporting actors are serviceable. Parikshat Sahnni and Kanwaljeet as the couple's fathers try to be comic and filmy. They just looked jaded.

Technical And Other Departments:
There is nothing seriously amiss in MBKD. It gets right the camerawork (Sudeep Chatterjee), music (Sohail Sen) and the outdoor locations in and around Delhi. What it misses out on is that element of unpredictability during the time of a wedding that "Band Baaja Baarat" and "Tanu Weds Manu" managed to capture probably because the couple at the helm was supported by any number of splendid supporting stars.

Final View:
By the time the Brother walks away with the Dulhan we really have nothing we would like to say to them, except, what took them so long?

Salman Khan New Hindi Film Bodyguard Movie Review:

Talk of star worship and our nation is one big house of frenzied fans who can take their stars in any form. Good, bad, ugly, all works for these fans who keep their superstars at such pedestals that no matter whichever film they star in, it has to be a guaranteed hit. Quite similar is the case with superstar Salman Khan. Much before its release Bodyguard had already been declared a superhit. Much worse, it's his star power alone that's going to make every cinegoer turn a blind eye to the film critics.

Story and Movie Analysis:

Lovely Singh (Salman Khan) a sincere Bodyguard is summoned by business tycoon Sartaj Rana (Raj Babbar) to protect and guard his daughter Divya (Kareena Kapoor) from any danger. Lovely owes his life to Sarjat hence doesn't give a second thought to even putting his life line for Sarjat's only daughter. Divya finds Lovely's presence around her 24*7 very annoying hence creates a mystery girl who's in love with him to divert his attention. However, things take an unexpected turn and she falls head over heels in love with Lovely. However, caught in her own web of lies she finds it difficult to express herself. Watch the film to know what happens to their love story.

Bodyguard's story is as small as a pea in a pond. And interestingly, there're barely any changes made while adapting it from the Malayalam or Tamil version. Blame it on the director Siddique who insouciantly ignored the Hindi sensibilities. The entire plot is wafer-thin and hangs on lose threads ready break any moment. Just like Wanted and Dabangg, Salman is shown as a fearless person who can tackle with 20 goons at a time. But it's a pity to see Salman being reduced to a comical caricature doing unrealistic fight sequences. It wouldn't be wrong to say that Salman's made to copy Rajinikanth, much worse, outdo him too.

The entire first half trudges along at snail's pace and is interspersed with mindless action and some typified Salman style dance sequence only to hold audience attention. The second half too gets unnecessarily complicated and unbearable towards the end with an unimaginably long climax sequence that endlessly goes on and on with one twist after the other. Probably, there were three or four ways to end this film and our filmmaker liked them all hence had them all one after the other. If the boredom wasn't enough, there's one annoying character that makes you walk out of the film every time he comes on screen - Rajat Rawail. And there are endless scenes of him trying to create humour out of nothing. A slapstick attempt that fails miserably.

Bodyguard looks more like a Wanted, Dabangg rehash with similar characters, similar theme; A desperate attempt to encash a formula that worked once by fluke, later out of surprise. So there is Mahesh Manjrekar who has more or less become Salman's lucky charm as he is seen in almost all films of his. Bodyguard gets mired by the presence of Salman itself. His star power is so dominating and the filmmaker gets carried away and makes him do anything and everything. So Salman is not only flying in all fight sequences like Spiderman or Superman but is also beating down goons to pulp, kicking them around like footballs quite like Rajinikanth. Salman's acting hardly gets tapped in this film. He remains stiff and rigid throughout. For a love story such as this Salman holds a decent track record but only if Siddique thought of tapping. All Salman gets to do in the entire film is mouth a single dialogue repeatedly in a bid to turn it into a trademark dialogue, do some fighting-shaiting, sing and dance.

Artist Performance:

Salman delivers one of his best performances in recent times. He makes magnificent use of his tough physique and soft face. Salman's fans are sure to lap this knockout performance in a big way. BODYGUARD would be incomplete without Kareena's contribution. Some roles are tailor-made for actresses who can deliver with aplomb and who better than Kareena to infuse life in a challenging character. She looks gorgeous [as always] and gives this character the dignity that it deserves. Raj Babbar is perfect. Mahesh Manjrekar is as usual. Aditya Pancholi, in a cameo, stages a welcome comeback. He's first-rate. Rajat Rawail is a joy to watch. He's truly funny. Hazel is quite good. Asrani and Vidya Sinha are okay in their respective parts.

Technical and Other Departments:

The editing is weak and so is cinematography. There are many chroma cheat shots easily noticeable. Himesh Reshammiya marks his comeback as a music composer with Bodyguard and does a swell job at it. He should do some more work such as this.

Final View:

All said and done, it all gets zeroed down to star power and it being very powerful in case of Salman. Like it or hate it, all his fans will go watch this film at least once. And that's the truth that even Salman can't stop. I give this film two and a half star.

Saif ali Khan and Amitab Bachan new Hindi Film Aarakshan Movie Review:

At an event Prakash Jha confessed that it is important to blend an art film with commercialisation for better reach among the masses. That's what the filmmaker has been trying ever since he made Mrityudand. Once again he attempts tackling a social evil through his film multi-starrer Aarakshan and has managed to stir up the hornet's nest with the mooted topic of Reservation. There have been multiple ban requests from Political houses so much so that many a political hoodlums also carried out protests against the release of the film. It leaves us all to wonder whether this film really comes out that strong or not.

Story And Movie Analysis:

Set in Bhopal Aarakshan is the story of Prabhakar Anand's (Amitabh Bachchan) fight against the law system as well as the education system of India. He is the legendary idealistic principal of a private college that he has single-handedly turned into the state's best. It is the story of his loyal disciple, Deepak Kumar (Saif Ali Khan) who will do anything for his Sir. Deepak's in love with Poorbi (Deepika Padukone) Prabhakar's daughter. Centred on one of the most controversial issues of recent years, with the Supreme Court's order on reservations, the story suddenly becomes a rollercoaster ride of high drama, conflict, and rebellion, which tests their love and friendship for one another, and their loyalty to Prabhakar Anand.

Throughout the film Prakash Jha seems to be consciously aware of the topic at hand and that's just why he deals with it like a Parliament issue making each character voice an opinion. While the first half deals with reservation of seats the second half takes a turn towards the commercialization of education. And the conclusion of it all is so simple that the entire fracas in the nation could be solved so very easily.

Artist Performances:

The Principal's role is tailor-made for Amitabh Bachchan. Though the actor has portrayed an unsympathetic Principal of an educational institution in MOHABBATEIN earlier, his role is different this time around. In MOHABBATEIN, a delicate episode toughened his character. In AARAKSHAN, his persona begins to suffer when Manoj Bajpayee and the coterie begin to show aggression and debase him. He doesn't strike back initially, but retaliates later, when he starts teaching all over again. The actor gives a completely new dimension to this character.

It requires great courage to cast Saif Ali Khan in the role, but he comes across as very persuasive. In fact, the film offers him several difficult sequences, which the actor carries off with flourish. His diction, while delivering shudh Hindi, is perfect. This role must have been a challenge for Deepika Padukone as well and she surprises you with a confident portrayal. In fact, she has an equally challenging part to play in the story and it must be said that she handles her scenes, even when she's pitted against experienced actors, with complete understanding.

Manoj Bajpayee was remarkable in RAAJNEETI; he played a devious and manipulative politician with gusto. In AARAKSHAN, his character is negative as well; he treats education as a business. And Manoj is incredible this time as well. Prateik is impassive in a few scenes. Also, he needs to loosen up a bit.

Tanvi Azmi is first-rate. Mukesh Tiwari is, as always, top notch. Yashpal Sharma is exceptional. Darshan Jariwala is very good. Saurabh Shukla is wonderful. Chetan Pandit is adequate. Vinay Apte is perfect. Anita Kanwar and S.M. Zaheer are alright. Hema Malini appears towards the end of the film.

Technical and Other Departments:

Yes, at a stage in the film one might start relating to a couple of points being put across. A lot of people may have even succumbed to the quota system widely prevalent in India. However, the superficial approach towards it makes Jha miss the impact. A lot of it can be blamed on the setting, characters, narrative and the length. The initial 30 minutes of the film are a complete let down. With almost two songs breaking on the screen within 15 minutes one starts getting a little edgy and impatient. The setting of a mohalla and local area of Bhopal is all awry. Jha's editing tools may definitely be rusted for him to not have used them at all. Characters like Prateik Babbar work against the film even more. He not only appears expressionless but also has a very accentuated dialogue delivery.Sachin Krishn's cinematography is top class. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy Music Was good.

Final View:

Finally, Aarakshan is just an average affair. Could've been shorter and better.

Ajay Devgan New Hindi Film Singham Movie Review:
Nearly 40 minutes in the film the Minister of Goa yells at the cops for wasting his time and says out loud "Non-sense". Then and there you start relating to him as that's just what happens while watching Singham and you feel like saying the same words. For the nth time director Rohit Shetty teams up with Ajay Devgn but this time not for a madcap slapstick Golmaal series which he is known for. This time around it's all brawn and muscles as Rohit too jumps into the bandwagon of Heroism and South remakes with Singham. So call it an overdose of fight sequences, beefy actors and stunts or poor execution, Singham comes out as Average talk.

Story and Movie Analysis:
Set in Goa, Jaikant Shikhre (Prakash Raj) is a terror for every police man. A criminal with guns and power, Jaikant works the Goa law system his own way. Killing, extorting and getting away with it is the easiest thing for him. Cut to Shivgad, a small village on the border of Maharashtra and Goa, where an honest inspector Bajirao Singham (Ajay Devgn) fights against injustice and prejudice using his own ethics and principles. How the two cross paths, how Shikhre messes with Bajirao Singham and how the simple inspector turns into a roaring, agitated, revengeful Simha (Lion) is what follows through the rest of the plot.

Singham is that brand of cinema that was prevalent in the '80s and '90s. It has a rone wali Maa, a bad villain, a revengeful wife, a heroine that provides all the dancing around the tress type of romance and high octane action between the hero and the villain. But it's the execution of it all that takes a beating. The film starts with a serious angle of an honest inspector committing suicide owing to the terror of Jaikant Shikhre. It then goes into a long tangent of introducing Ajay Devgn, his life, his supremely tedious romantic angle making you frustrated with the goings-on. 80 per cent of the first half seems needless and could very well be chopped off to give way to the drama that follows in the second half.In a typical Rohit Shetty style there are a lot of cars blown up for providing the hardcore action feel.

Artist Performance:
The best thing about Singham is its villain. Prakash Raj as the maniacal and egoistic criminal is befitting. His serious, ruthless character blended with timely humour keeps the audience glued to their seats. Another reason to watch this film is the drama between Prakash Raj and Ajay Devgn. Their battle against each other is interesting and offers a lot of drama. Ajay's look and characterisation is very good however, whenever he speaks in Marathi it looks very forced and fake. Wish something could've been done about this. Even the setting appears farcical. Kajal Aggarwal has over the top written all over her throughout the film. so if you thought Kareena Kapoor in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham was OTT wait to see Kajal.

Technical and Other Departments :
However, this time around the cinematography goes for a toss. The film is interspersed with bad shots which are glaringly obvious and out of focus scenes. The editing too isn't anything great.Music too has nothing great to talk about.

Final Veiw:
Over all, Singham is more of a Sing - HAM fest. Stretches like a Chewing gum. Its a same old pattern film Nothing new in it. Watch it only for Ajay Devgn and Prakash Raj.

Hrithik Roshan New Hindi Film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara Movie Review:
Deep sea diving, Sky diving, the scenic locales of Spain, Tomatino festival and three friends making the most of each and every moment of their lives. Yes, sounds nearly like a dream and that's just what Farhan Akhtar's sister Zoya Akhtar tries attaining in her slice of life film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (ZNMD). Whether her dreamy film actually works in content as well or not remains to be seen.

Story and Movie Analysis:
Well Coming into the Story Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is about the journey that changes the lives of three best friends - Arjun (Hrithik Roshan), Imran (Farhan Akhtar) and Kabir (Abhay Deol). Before he gets entangled in a lifelong bond of marriage with Natasha (Kalki Koechlin), Kabir wants to celebrate his bachelor's party with his friends and so the three head out to Spain to fulfil a pact they had formed 4 years ago. A road trip where each one gets to do one ultimate sport along with the other two. How the journey becomes a moment of epiphany for each of them and how they overcome their problems and fears is what forms the rest of the story.

First and foremost, the biggest clarification is that, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is nothing like the false message doing the rounds. The three lead actors, DO NOT DIE IN THE END. And about the second speculation of it being a take off from Dil Chahta Hai, I can only say that the film does give glimpses of DCH but isn't exactly like it. For one to enjoy ZNMD, one has to come to terms with the fact that since the film is about the journey the lead cast takes to Spain (and since the producers have incurred heavy expenses to shoot in the country) there are great possibilities of the film to come across very touristy with many scenes dwelling far too long on each and every tourist spot or adventure.

The first half of the film does appear pacy with too many things happening simultaneously. But it's the second half, filled with melodrama that appears too stretched. In the times when the attention span of the audience is diminishing by each film and generally most of the films are having a run time of 2 hours, a proper 3 hour film including the interval appears very long.

There are however, many things that catch the attention of the audience; the timing between the actors being one. It is their infectious camaraderie, humour and joy that transports the viewer into their world. More importantly, the characters are very relatable.

Artist Performance:
Akhtar deserves a special mention for his brilliant acting. Some of the poems mouthed by Farhan which are originally written by Javed Akhtar are beautiful. Katrina Kaif as Laila, gets a tailor made role for herself and hence plays it well. Kalki doesn't get much to do. Abhay and Hrithik are great but nothing extra.

Technical and Other Departments:
The review of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara cannot be complete without the mention of the stupendous cinematography of Carlos Catalan. Hat's off to him for giving breath-taking view of Spain. Right from the Tomatino festival to the Sky-diving or the deep sea diving, each and every scene is captured brilliantly. Only if editing by Anand Subaya could've been better, the film could've attained perfection as far as it is visually concerned. Music by Shankar Ehsaan Loy is disappointing.

Final View:
On the whole, ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA has its share of plusses and minuses, highs and lows. It's definitely not for ardent fans of kitsch or those with an appetite for typical masala entertainers. This one's more for spectators with refined tastes and sensibilities. It's a film for a more evolved, mature and cinema-literate audience that's geared up to embrace and support newer genres of cinema.

Finally, To sum it up, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is an experience to be enjoyed only once, not Dobara.

Emraan Hasmi and Jacqueline Fernandez New Hindi Film Murder 2 movie Review:

Among the many sequels gracing the cinema halls over some weeks comes yet another sequel of the 2004 Anurag Basu directed Mallika Sherawat, Emraan Hashmi starrer superhit thriller Murder. Starring Emraan Hashmi yet again alongside the superhot Jacqueline Fernandez, Murder 2 has been in news for the bold scenes and the chartbusting music. So let's find out whether this film will work or not.

Story and Movie Analysis:
Set in Goa, Murder 2 revolves around a former cop Arjun Bhagwat (Emraan Hashmi) who is irreverent and earns his living doing odds jobs for pimps, gangsters etc. He is in a non-committed relation with a model Priya (Jacqueline Fernandez) who loves him too much but is lovelorn as he doesn't reciprocate. A certain pimp assigns him a task to find the call girls from his racquet who have gone missing over a few months. How Arjun's investigation to find the missing girls leads him to a serial killer Dheeraj Pandey (Prashant Narayanan) is what forms the rest of the story.

Murder 2 can't quite exactly be called a sequel to the Anurag Basu directed predecessor. It has different characters, different setting and different storyline too. Unlike Murder, Murder 2 happens to be quite gory and spine chilling. The film appears to have drawn inspiration from Hollywood's slasher flick Hostel and has the same method of the multiple heinous assassinations. However, it is a little less grisly in comparison to the Hollywood flick. What may turn out to be a deterrent for the film is the faulty storyline. The manner in which the case of the missing call girls is handled is very sketchy filled with a lot of cinematic liberties taken by the filmmaker just to come to the conclusion.

Artist Performance:
Both Emraan and Prashant Narayanan vie for top honors. Emraan delivers a spirited performance, playing the angry guy to perfection. He's so with the character. In fact, this would rank amongst Emraan's most accomplished performances. Prashant is a dynamic actor -- a fact that has been proved time and again. This film is sure to make people sit up and notice this wonderful talent. Stepping into Mallika's shoes in the sequel is Jacqueline. Like Mallika, she takes the boldness quotient to the next level with her sexy avatar. She should grab a lot of eyeballs for the oomph factor, while her performance is decent. In fact, she gets little scope to display histrionics, but she makes a sincere attempt to portray her character with care.

Sulagna Panigrahi is a talent to watch out for. She's first-rate. Sudhanshu Pandey enacts his part with a lot of confidence. Sandiip Sikcand surprises with a stellar act. Though a brief part, his performance adds a lot of spice to the proceedings. Shweta Kawatra shines in that lone sequence. Yana Gupta sizzles in the opening track.

Technical and Other Departments:
Director Mohit Suri reignites the flicker that he illustrated in his early films. He's a skilled, competent storyteller and this film reiterates the fact yet again. Ditto for writer Shagufta Rafique, who's supremely talented as well. Though she may seem inspired from a source, Shagufta gives MURDER 2 her own color and shade. Both Mohit and Shagufta push the limits in terms of the characters and the situations that have been created. You just can't guess what's up in store next, which has ample scenes that would leave you startled and dazed. The Bhatts have always had a good track record as far as music goes and MURDER 2 is no exception. If one avoids comparing the soundtrack with the prequel, this film has a rich soundtrack that works well. 'Haal E Dil' [music: Harshit Saxena] and the track filmed on Yana Gupta at the onset, 'Aa Zara' [music: Sangeet Haldipur-Siddharth Haldipur], are first-rate compositions. Ravi Walia's cinematography is top notch.

Final View:
On the whole, MURDER 2 is one of the finest crime stories to come out of the Hindi film industry. Also, as a film, it lives up to the expectations that you may associate from a sequel of a hit. This one's bolder, more erotic and has a story that will astound and astonish you. The Bhatts have a winner on hand!

Amitabh Bachchan New hindi film Bbuddah hoga terra baap Movie Review:
Back in '80s there was a star who gave every other actor a run for his money. And that was the Angry Young Man Amitabh Bachchan. Over the year the superstar became the Iconic Figure of India; the biggest star ever but somewhere lost out his Angry Young Man image by taking up potent character roles. The star is back, reviving his angry action hero image with Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap. Whether he succeeds in harping his own once upon a time earned glory or not remains to be seen.

Story and Movie Analysis:
Viju (Amitabh Bachchan) is a retired gangster who returns to Mumbai to protect his son from the clutches of gangster Kabir (Prakash Raj). ACP Karan Malhotra (Sonu Sood) too is on Kabir's trail and pledges to clean the city in 2 months. Naturally, Kabir decides to bump him off. And shooters keep making failed attempts at his life. But story takes a turn when a secret that both Viju and Karan share is revealed. We wouldn't want to spoil the fun by disclosing it. So for the rest of the story watch the movie.

There seems to be this sudden south copying fixation in Bollywood with many filmmakers trying to revive the long dead 'heroism' that was a part of Hindi cinema in the '90s. Here too the attempts appear to be the same. Right from the promos of the film you can make out that the action scenes appear a copy of Dabangg which began the trend. From the promos of the movie it was absolutely clear that director Puri Jagannadh doesn't believe in subtlety. So every frame has AB showing off loud dressing style with floral prints shirt and leather jackets. But for the fans of Big B this isn't a deterrent. The real problem arises when the story begins and you keep looking up for some punch line or some trademark action scene but the film disappoints you at every juncture.

Artist Performance:
Bachchan is truly the Baap and this film reiterates this fact yet again. His character, his attitude and the dialogue he delivers will remain etched in your memory for a long, long time. His attire may raise eyebrows initially, but once into the film, you will realize it gels well with his character. Hema Malini is, as always, graceful. The chemistry between the senior actors is refreshing. Raveena is saddled with an ill-defined role and that's the prime reason why she doesn't leave an impact. Sonu Sood is first-rate, confident at every step. Not once do you feel that he's overawed by Bachchan's towering presence. Sonal Chauhan looks pretty and acts well. Charmee Kaur is likeable and contributes to the funny moments. Prakash Raj is super. In fact, it's a treat to watch powerful actors like Bachchan and Prakash Raj embroiled in a confrontation. Makrand Deshpande is wonderful. Shahwar Ali is okay. Rajeev Mehta irritates. Again, this track seems completely unwanted. Rajeev Varma has a half-baked role. Vishwajeet Pradhan and Atul Parchure are passable.

Technical and Other Deparments:
The story of Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap is insipid with sub-plots popping up from everywhere leaving you in a fix to solve the mystery on your own. The dialogues form the biggest disappointment. Throughout the film there's just one cult dialogue of Amitabh used. Never again do any of his greatest dialogues come up. It seems that the writer never bothered going through the superstar's body of work! While dialogues are more or less lame, the cinematography by Amol Rathod is flawed at various occasions. The out of focus camera angles threaten to spoil the movie completely. However, editing by Shekhar is crisp and high-end.

Final View:
Over all, Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap will work only for the Bachchan fan frenzy. For the others it is a disappointing fair. If you are a diehard fan Amitabh just go and watch the Film.

Imran Khan New Hindi Film delhi Belly Movie Review:
Move over glossy, mega-starrer, slapstick films, it's time for some in your face humour. A humour that may either be denounced by the moral patrols or be revered by people who don't mind calling spade a spade... and the film to bring in some brazen humour is Aamir Khan Productions' Delhi Belly. Whether it really gets loved by the mass or ends up being terms as crass remains to be seen.

Story and Movie Analysis:
Delhi Belly revolves around three flatmates cum friends Tashi (Imran Khan), Arup (Vir Das) and Nitin (Kunaal Roy Kapoor). While Tashi is getting married to his girlfriend Sonia (Shenaz Treasurywala), Arup gets dumped by his girlfriend and works for in a compromising job with a fugly boss. Nitin (Kunaal Roy Kapoor) is a photo journalist, a fatso hogger who faces detrimental aftermaths of his askew bowel movements. In one of the odd situations Nitin's stool sample gets replaced by a bottle full of diamonds that belong to a local gangster played by Vijay Raaz. How this error leads to wholesome comedy follows through a series of hilarious cuss or fart filled incidents.

Delhi Belly is a powerful combination of clever writing of Akshat Verma and slick director of Abhinay Deo. Yes, the film is non-conforming, brazen, wicked but it isn't apologetic about it. Instead it basks in the glory of being crude, gritty and most importantly realistic. There's hardly a scene that you find offensive. Delhi Belly is very comfortable in its space. Never in the entire film do you see anything appearing forced or needless. Even the English dialogues mouthed by the lead actors look very natural; a rarity in Hindi cinema. Very rare in Hindi cinema do filmmakers successfully tap the toilet humour correctly, and Delhi Belly is filled with many a fart sounds, stomach gurgles, flush noises and so on but all with purpose. It is a funnily crazy offering that will make you strip your sophistication and enjoy the grungy humour created by the three mad-cap blokes.

Delhi Belly has its target audience set. By all probabilities it will attract the multiplex opting, English speaking cults between the age group of 20s to 30s. And call it the astute business sense of the Perfectionist Aamir Khan, he keeps his investments in check by choosing a fairly promising new cast, a fresh scriptwriter and a very intelligent and low-budget script.

Being a reviewer one cannot ignore the flaws and the only majorly glaring error is the setting. Hardly do you get the flavour of Delhi that's given excessive prominence so much so that it forms a part of the title. The entire drama could've been located elsewhere too without the slightest of difference in the script. In a bid to create humour, there are quite a few cinematic liberties taken too. But all the shortcomings get overshadowed by the brilliance of the actors and the humour quotient.

Artist Performance:
This is Imran's best work to date, no two opinions on it. Vir Das is incredible. Kunal Roy Kapur is the scene-stealer actually. As a matter of fact, the performances by these three actors will be the talking point once the film releases.

Shenaz Treasury acts well. Poorna Jagannathan gets into the skin of the character and catches your eye. Vijay Raaz is exceptional. Paresh Ganatra [the landlord] is equally competent. Rahul Singh is perfect. The Aamir Khan song is imaginatively filmed.

Technical and Other Departments:
One cannot miss the mention of the maverick music by Ram Sampath that has nation grooving to it! The songs that have topped the charts all blend perfectly in the backdrop according to the situation. But it's the Aamir Khan number Disco Fighter that takes the cake purely for the performance of the acting genius. The way he spoofs Mithun Chakraborty is hilarious.

Final View:
To sum it up, Delhi Belly is a powerful combination of clever writing, brilliant story and crazy, grungy humour.
Its a good film to watch this weekend.

Salman Khan New Hindi Film Ready Movie Review:

It's a daunting task for any reviewer to assess a Salman Khan film. After all, he/she may either earn flak from the Salman fans or would hold no worth. The ones who like him will definitely go for it whether the review is in favor or not. That's the magnanimity of the star power riding on Salman Khan; a case in which assessment of storyline, screenplay, editing or cinematography doesn't count.

Story and Movie Analysis:
Prem (Salman Khan) has a happy giant family where as Sanjana, an orphan lands in India to be with her mamas (Sharat Saxena, Akhilendra Mishra), who are greedy and want to usurp her property. Sanjana in the garb of Pooja gets into Prem's family and the two falls in love with each other. Enters a major problem, Sanjana's mamas are at constant loggerheads with each other and want Sanjana to marry their respective brother in laws in order to acquire her property. How Prem manages to win over Sanjana and brings the two sworn brothers together forms the rest of the plot.

Right from its first promo itself, it's clear that filmmaker Anees Bazmee is trying hard to encash Salman's success of Dabangg. And the way the songs Dhinka Chika and Character Dheela have become a rage, one surely expects another masala potboiler from Ready. However, within a couple of minute into the film you know you're in for a major let down. The entire film reeks of clichéd dialogues and story line of his past films. Worse still, of flops like No Problem and Thank You! Anees once again comes up with leave your brains at home kind of comedy. So while Ready has the typical "hanging by the cliff" scene reminiscent of No Entry, the dialogue aided by Salman on being asked what is he doing there is "just hanging around!" Ready also has the same old don connection used earlier in Welcome. If only dragging audience to the theatre was enough Anees! The filmmaker surely has lost touch of making decent films and should take to a long sabbatical before he plans another debacle.

Another sore point is the loud-mouthed badly written dialogues say for example, "Main kutta hoon yeh kutiya hai!" Even the dialogue "Life mein kabhi teen cheese ko underestimate mat karna I, Me And Myself" has been painfully inserted with a desperate attempt to make it click. There's also a bare-chested scene of Salman, obviously to give the aam junta their money's worth.

With the kind of efforts Salman is putting in promoting this film, wonder what even 10 per cent of that into acting could've done for the film. Salman is not only taut throughout but also hamming. Blame it on the director who couldn't extract much from his actor as Salman did put up a decent show in his last two hits Wanted and Dabangg. Asin barely gets much to do. An ensemble cast of Mahesh Manjrekar, Paresh Rawal, Sharat Saxena, Akhilendra Mishra, Aarya Babbar, Puneet Issar, and Manoj Joshi among others compete with each other in hamming.

Artist and Other Performance:
Music apart from Dhinka Chika and Character Dheela is very dheela. Editor Ritesh Soni probably slept off at the editing table as there remain too many scenes that could easily be chopped off. At least a small length of the film could've reduced the agitation. The few things that work in the film are the paisa vasool fight sequence of Salman, his pocket-fiddling dance steps or his character dheela moves. Even some repartees between Salman and Paresh Rawal are quite humorous.

Final View:
If you are ready for a brainless flick Just go for Ready.

Abhishek Bachan and Daggubati Rana New Hindi Film Dum Maaro Dum Movie Review:
Dum Maaro Dum Dum Maaro Dum starts with a small montage of blockbusters of yesteryears including the likes of Sholay, Shaan, Saagar, to the recent Bluffmaster giving way to the logo of Ramesh Sippy Films. This boastful display itself raises your expectations from DMD sky high.

Story and Movie Analysis:
Lorry (Prateik Babbar) fails to bag a scholarship at an international university while his girlfriend Tanya (Anaitha Nair) does. Distraught for having been left behind, Lorry gets convinced to become a carrier for drugs in order to get the admission fee. Despite all precautions, he gets caught at the airport, the local peddler who got him into it is dead and the Baap of all goons, Michael Barbossa isn't known to anyone. Joki (Rana Daggubati) a local crooner is lovelorn for having lost out on his girlfriend Zoe (Bipasha Basu) to Drug Mafia Lorsa Biscuitta (Aditya Pancholi) who blackmails her to become his keep. Joki doesn't want his friend Lorry to lose himself the way his girlfriend did hence he tries saving him but comes in the bad books of Michael Barbossa.
ACP Vishnu Kamath (Abhishek Bachchan) is hired to steer clear Goa from all the drug dealings. He busts the crime rackets one after the other but stumbles upon a block - that of a so called Michael Barbossa who apparently hasn't been seen or heard off by anyone but has a major chunk worth 970 Crores of drugs under his wings.

All three stories are connected at one moot point - Who or rather where is Micheal Barbossa? Unraveling of this suspense forms the rest of the story. Directed by Rohan Sippy, DMD tries too hard to be stylish and snazzy and in the process loses out on its grittiness. The way Abhishek Bachchan breaks into the song Thyan Thyan appears very filmy. The first half of the film has a great build up to an interesting suspense drama but it starts trudging in the second half and even the revelation of the suspense is tad disappointing.

What works for the film is the slick editing by Aarif Shaikh and great cinematography by Amit Roy. The way Goa and its rave parties are captured is commendable. The film has too much dramebaazi giving a very 90s "Bollywoodish" feel.

Artist Performance:
Abhishek is super in the role of a tough cop whose life undergoes a U-turn when personal tragedy strikes. He projects the varied emotions such as rage, turmoil, helplessness, anxiety without going overboard. Much of the joy comes from watching Rana Daggubati infuse believability into his character. He's easy on the eyes and is a complete natural when it comes to acting. Bipasha shines in several moments of the film. Prateik [credited as special appearance in the titles] impresses a great deal. Aditya Pancholi is first-rate. Anaitha Nair does well in a brief role. Govind Namdeo is in terrific form. Muzammil [as Mercy] does a fair job. Gulshan Devaiya is tremendous. Hussain is okay. Vidya Balan [cameo] is alright. Deepika scorches the screen in the title track.

Technical and Other Departments:
Rohan Sippy has given the film his all. He has a unique style of telling a story, which is evident all through the film. But he's letdown by the screenplay writing in the second hour. The highpoints of the film include crisp dialogue and a popular soundtrack [music: Pritam]. The title track has already caught on and will prove to be a major crowdpuller, though there's a sizable section of cineastes who loathe its lyrics. 'Thayn Thayn' is catchy, but the placement of this song should've been better. Amit Roy's cinematography is top notch. In fact, the film bears a stunning look all through. Background score [Midival Punditz] is electrifying. Editing could've been sharper. Clocking in at roughly 2 hour and 05 minutes, it's much longer than it should be.

Final View:
On the whole, DUM MAARO DUM is like fast food that's high on calories, but falls short in the nutrition department. Yes, it's slick, stylish and well-crafted, but the fact remains that it lacks the power [in its second hour specifically] to create a dum-daar impression. Business-wise, DUM MAARO DUM caters more to the youth in metros than the hardcore masses in general. Its business in plexes of Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Gurgaon, Chandigarh, Hyderabad and Bengaluru in particular will be the best. The Nizam-Andhra circuits in particular will also contribute a good chunk thanks to Rana Daggubati's presence. But the traditional circuits may not react as strongly. In a nutshell, the business is likely to be divided between metros and non-metros, between weekend and weekdays.

Akshay Kumar New Hindi Film Thank You Movie Review:
Bollywood seems to be undergoing times of rehashing. While some filmmakers are remaking films, some are plainly encashing songs of yesteryears to create some hype around their film. Anees Bazmee's latest release Thank You has it all. The film is not only lifted in bits and pieces from Anees's previous films like No Entry or No Problem but also has resemblance to films on infidelity like Biwi No.1, Masti, Shaadi No 1 etc. Moreover, Anees also packs in an item number featuring Mallika Sherawat and has a remixed cult number Pyar Do Pyar Lo. Now it only remains to see whether all this works in the film's favour or not.

Story:
Well Coming into Story, Thank You is a film about three lecherous husbands Raj (Bobby Deol), Vikram (Irrfan Khan) and Yogi (Suneil Shetty), big womanizers who openly cheat on their wives played by Sonam Kapoor, Rimi Sen and Celina Jaitly respectively. Of them all Sanjana (Sonam) loves Raj too much but starts doubting him and deploys a detective agent Kishan (Akshay Kumar) to prove this. How he works towards proving Raj guilty and in the process exposes Vikram and Yogi too follows through rest of the plot.

Artist Performace:
Akshay Kumar is fantastic in the role of an extra-marital counselor. His comic timing, as always, is hard to match. His performance is sure to be loved by the masses. Irrfan is known for his superb comic timing and he leaves an indelible impression yet again, shining in the best moments of the enterprise. In fact, even when the going gets tough [second half], it is Irrfan who keeps you glued to the screen thanks to the art of delivering funny, corny and cheesy lines with a straight face. Suniel Shetty contributes to some wonderful moments, while Bobby Deol looks out of place. Sonam Kapoor seems ill at ease. Also, her makeup is just not right. She looks glamorous at times, but there are times when her pale looks are hard to ignore. Celina Jaitley gets limited scope. Why does her character disappear in the second half? Rimi Sen is the best of the lot. Her sequences with Irrfan are truly funny. Mallika Sherawat sizzles in the 'Razia' track. Vidya Balan is wasted in a cameo. Mukesh Tiwari, Rakhi Vijan and Ranjeet get no scope. Smita Jaykar is fair.

Technical and Other Departments:
Like Bazmee's last endeavor NO PROBLEM, THANK YOU also suffers due to weak writing [screenplay: Bazmee, Rajiv Kaul, Ikram Akhtar, Nisar Akhtar and Rajan Agarwal], especially in its post-interval portions. What compounds the problem is that while the on-screen characters try too hard to make you laugh, you just don't react. The jokes are bland and the situations the three husbands land up in are far from funny. By the time the story reaches its conclusion, the viewer is already exhausted. Pritam's musical score is strictly okay. 'Pyaar Do Pyaar Lo' and 'Razia' are fair compositions, but the songs in the second half are of fast-forward variety. Ravi Yadav's cinematography captures the breath-taking locales of Canada very well. The film wears a glossy and grandiose look all through. Sandeep Shirodkar's background score is appropriate at times, but jarring at places as well. Story writer and director Anees Bazmee fails to bring any novelty in the story and this time around lacks in direction too.

Analysis:
On the whole, THANK YOU has a thoroughly entertaining first hour, besides Akshay-Irrfan's funny acts as its aces, but the weak writing in its post-interval portions throws a spanner in the works. What could've been an honest take on dishonesty fails to leave a mark eventually. After WELCOME and SINGH IS KINNG, one expected Bazmee and Akshay to get it right for the third time, but THANK YOU foils the chances of a hat-trick. Thumbs Down!

Final View:
Over all, Thank You is a feeble attempt at comedy. It may not get to welcome many people at the box-office
